Just attempted a poached egg and the end result could kindly be described as ‘munted’. So I checked out an Australian blogger’s site called Grab Your Fork to see how others achieve better results. The blogger’s name is Helen and she has some good poaching advice and so do her readers.

I used a poaching ring and probably got the water too hot. I didn’t even bother with the whirlpool technique which I have failed to make happen many times previously. In the end my New Year’s Day poached egg on rye with avocado was a 3.5 out of 5 for appearance and a 4.5 out of 5 for taste.
